Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

in Northwestern Vermont

The Smugglers' Notch Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Adventure Center (802-644-1173, www.smuggs.com) is America's Family Resort with a self contained village tucked away in Vermont's Green Mountains. Click Smugglers' Notch for a full page of info. Smugglers' offers rentals, lessons, backcountry and night tours as well as 100 pairs of snowshoe rentals and guided tours. More than 30 km of scenic, groomed and tracked, cross-country skiing trails, plus 24 km of snowshoe trails and 28 km are groomed for skating on site. Ice skating on an outdoor rink. Smugglers' can outfit age 6 and older. Fun Zone, indoor pool, winter walking program, daycare, teen centers, and 3 interconnected mountains with 1,000 acres of alpine skiing terrain. Great for the family that likes many different things to do!

The Bolton Valley Nordic Center (802-434-3444 ext. 1076, www.boltonvalley.com) in Bolton Valley, VT is located near Interstate 89 off exit 11 from the north or exit 10 from the south. Click Bolton Valley for a full page of info. There are 100 km of trails with 35 km of classic and 35 km skate skiing. The Bolton Valley Alpine ski area and lodging make this a place that a family with different snow interests can enjoy. CCSAA member

The Catamount Family Center (802-879-6001, www.catamountoutdoor.com) is in Williston, VT at a family farm with memorable views of Mt. Mansfield and Camel's Hump to the east and Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks to the west.There are 35 km of trails of which 20 km are groomed for classic and skate skiing. Lessons, xc ski rental equipment are available.

Sleepy Hollow Inn & Bike Center (802-434-2283, www.skisleepyhollow.com) is in Huntington, VT. There are 30 km of groomed trails with 25 km of trails for skate skiing. Lessons, xc ski and snowshoe equipment rentals are available. The inn has eight newly renovated bedrooms. Ice skating, and night skiing are also featured at Sleepy Hollow as well as trails to Butternut Cabin with stunning views of Camel's Hump. There is an offer for a one-time free trail pass to people, who drive to the center in a hybrid or alternative powered vehicle. CCSAA member
