Blueberry
Hill Ski Center (802-247-6735, www.blueberryhillinn.com) is in Goshen,
VT high in the Green Mountain National Forest. There are 50 km of groomed
trails of which 20 km are groomed for skate skiing. Lessons, xc ski
rental equipment are available. The new Romance Trail, is 3,100-foot
altitude, which is claimed to be the highest groomed trail in Vermont.
This cozy inn, which is tucked away in the mountains above Middlebury,
was also recently awarded "Green Hotel" signification, whereby
it passed a rigorous inspection for environmental stewardship by the
Green Hotel Association. The association, which encourages, promotes
and supports the "greening" of the lodging industry, rewards
properties whose management institutes programs that save water and
energy and reduce solid waste.
Rickert Touring
Center (802-443-2744, www.middlebury.edu) is owned and operated
by Middlebury College located 12 miles east of Middlebury. There are
42 km of groomed trails with 15 km of trails for skate skiing. Lessons,
xc ski and snowshoe equipment rentals are available. The center borders
the Green Mountain National Forest and the Robert Frost Homestead.
Three Stallion
Inn Ski Touring (802-728-5656, www.3stallioninn.com) is on 1,300
acres in Randolph, VT with 30 km of groomed trails (10 of which are
for skating). There are hardwood and softwood forests along the Third
Branch of the White River and through high open meadows. Snowshoe trails,
too. Full service shop rents xc ski and snowshoe equipment. Fitness
center, indoor pool, racketball courts, massage, fine dining and Morgan's
Pub on site.
