Valley Serenade" runs on a special channel at the Sun Valley Lodge
all day long.
The upscale Teton Ridge Ranch (208-456-2650, www.tetonridge.com), in Tetonia, ID lies under the sunny west side of the Grand Tetons and offers 5 guest suites. The trail system covers 25 km groomed for classic and skate skiing. The center offers xc ski instruction. Snowshoeing is also available on separate trails and rental equipment is available. The ranch offers outstanding cuisine and is only 45 minutes to alpine skiing powder at Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole in Wyoming. Dog sleds and sleigh rides available. Bogus Basin (208-332-5390, www.bogusbasin.com), is only 16.5 miles from Boise, Idaho's capital city at the Bogus Basin Mountain Resort (alpine ski area). There are 32 km of groomed trails, xc ski equipment rentals and lessons available. Snowshoe rentals are also available and there are separate snowshoe trails.The first permanent night lighting operation powered by photovoltaic solar panels illumintaes 5 km of xc ski trail loop and a half km trail with flatter terrain for beginners is lighted from the Frontier Point Nordic Lodge. Tamarack Resort (208-325-1059. www.tamarackidaho.com) in McCall, ID is surrounded by the Payette National Forest in central Idaho. Tamarack is the newest ski resort in the US and it announced that there's a new location for the Nordic and snowshoe center in the Sports Dome at Discovery Square to get trail passes, rentals, lessons or guided excursions. Skiers then have to take 2 high speed quad lifts up to the Canoe Ridge Trail at 7,700 foot elevation. There is 10 km groomed for classic and skate skiing. A ride back down on the lift is necessary. McCall offers cultural amenities such as restaurants, theater and music. Local parks include Little Ski Hill and Ponderosa State Park with 16 km of groomed trails and 2 km of lighted trails.
