in West Dover, VT has been named "simply one of the best small
xc ski areas in the country...bar none!" One of the reasons for
the high regard is the beautifully designed trail network. There are
14 km of groomed trails are open 9-4:30 daily for classic and skate
xc skiing.
The trails meander on forested hills and ridges with views and some mysterious loops to explore. Ski these trails and you'll notice the flow that makes them so special. Located across from Mount Snow in southern Vermont, the Timber Creek facility shares space within a condo association recreational facility. One of the benefits of this cooperative arrangement is the Ski & Soak Special that offers the access to the trails, sauna, jacuzzi, and indoor swimming pool for $30 (or $20 for a child). This special is available M-F until 8 PM and on weekends or holidays till 3 PM.
The Timber Creek trail fee is $18 for a full day and $15 for a half day starting at 1:30 PM. Folks aged 65 and above ski for $12. Kids that are aged 12 and under are $12 and $9 respectively.
XC
ski rental equipment is available at $18 for a full day and $15 for
a half day starting at 1:30 PM. Child rental gear is $12 for a full
day and $9 for a half day.
Snowshoe rentals are the same prices as xc gear $18/$12 and less for kids, but you can keep the snowshoes overnight for $25 or $20 for a child.
XC ski instruction is offered in group lessons for $18 per person. Private lessons are $45 per hour. The group lessons are scheduled on weekends or holidays at 10 AM, 12 & 2 PM and midweek lessons are set for 10 AM or 12 PM. For some parental time on the trails without the kids use the Kids Camp, which is offered to 5-12 year olds on weekends or holidays at 10 AM for 2 hours of fun on the snow and other group activities including a snack for $29 or $39 with rental equipment.
The
Mount Snow area and southeastern Vermont region has so much to do, with
shopping, restaurants, and night life. There is a shuttle that travels
in the region, too. CCSAA member
Directions: From the south take I-91 to Brattleboro, VT Exit 2. Take Route 9 West for 20 miles to the traffic light in downtown Wilmington, VT. Turn right on Route 100 north and go 7.5 miles. Timber Creek is located on the right across from the second entrance to Mount Snow Ski Resort. From Bennington, VT or points west, take Route 9 East for 21 miles and turn left on Route 100 to Timber Creek.
