The
Gold Run Nordic Center (970-547-7889, www.townofbreckenridge.com

Breckenridge, CO at the local golf course with rolling hills and great
panaramas of surrounding mountains including the 10 Mile Range, Gore
Range, and the Continental Divide..
The Breckenridge
Golf Club hosts the Gold Run Nordic Center in the clubhouse, which has
large picture windows, a massive stone fireplace, and overstuffed leather
chairs. Enjoy the view with a cup of coffee or hot coco.
There are 20 km of groomed
trails for classic and skate skiing and 12 km of single track for snowshoers.
Gold Run Nordic Center has a full service ski shop with retail merchandise
and an indoor heated waxing room.
Trail passes are $15 per
day and $10 for youth, (those
aged 17 and under) or seniors, aged 60-69. Skiers aged 70 or higher
can ski for only $4, and kids aged 6 or under ski for free. The Gold
Run Nordic trail pass is accepted at nearby Breckenridge
Nordic Ski Center. There is also access to backcountry skiing from
Gold Run, too.
Gold Run Nordic is a Rossignol Demo Center. XC ski and snowshoe rental
equipment are available at $15 per day.
The youth and senior rates are $10 daily. High performance equipment
and backcountry gear are $20.
Instruction sessions are 1.5 hours with
group lessons at $34, Youth group lesson at $20, and Private lessons
at $45. The lesson prices include a trail pass. Skate lessons are offered
at 9:30 AM and classic at 11 AM, but they will probably accommodate
you at other times.
Horse drawn scenic or dinner sleigh rides
are 40 minutes for a trip to the mountain lodge for fondue or dinner.

miss events include the local raucous Ullr Fest Bonfire on January 7
at 5:30 PM. The Keep Winter White Summit "climate change"
event from Gold Run to Frisco Nordic is set for January 13. The Volks
March is a noncompetitive outing for snowshoers on Feb 2-3.
Directions: From I-70 take Exit 203 and
head south on Highway 9. Go 7 miles to Tiger Road. Take the second right
on Highlands Drive to Clubhouse Drive and Gold Run Nordic Center is
on the left.
