This sustainable business operation is exemplary as the lumber for the buildings and furniture and the firewood is harvested on the property and milled locally. Wood burning provides the heat for the buildings using timber from tree stand improvement projects and trail maintenance. Stump Sprouts produces more electricity from solar panels than it consumes. More than 75% of refuse is either composted, recycled, or reused. Gardens on the property supply the produce and flowers for much of the year and they are supplemented where possible by local dairy, fruits, and vegetables.
