This historic facility was established in 1926 when visitors, who came to enjoy the mountain air arrived in Model T's. Sorensen's is about 20 miles south of Lake Tahoe along the route of the Emigrant Trail that saw more than 55,000 people make their way to California for the gold rush. They came through Nevada's Carson Valley and Hope Valley, CA on their way over the Carson Pass. There are 150 year-old trail ruts evidence of the emigration and Snowshoe Thompson, who delivered the mail in the Sierra Nevada mountains is known to have frequented the region.
