The Trapp Family Lodge (802-253-8511; 800-826-7000, organized America’s first commercial XC ski center and is one of the Top 50 Ski Resorts according to Conde Nast. Trapp has 100 km of groomed and machine-tracked trails and backcountry trails that wind through 2,400 acres of woodlands and meadows with magnificent mountain vistas at every turn. Stowe Mountain Resort Touring Center (800-253-4SKI, offers 42 km of groomed Nordic ski trails. Novices will be introduced to a new world of outdoor winter beauty by an expert staff with lessons, rentals, and tours in a variety of activities including in-track classic skiing, backcountry ski touring, telemark and snowshoeing. The trails are in the Mount Mansfield State Forest.

The Smugglers' Notch Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Adventure Center (802-644-1173, is America's Family Resort with a self contained village tucked away in Vermont's Green Mountains. The Bolton Valley Nordic Center (802-434-3444 ext. 1076, in Bolton Valley, VT is located near Interstate 89 off exit 11 from the north or exit 10 from the south. Sleepy Hollow Inn & Bike Center (802-434-2283, is in Huntington, VT. Click Sleepy Hollow for a full page of info. There are 35 km of groomed trails with 20 km of trails for snowshoeing. Lessons, xc ski and snowshoe equipment rentals are available. The inn has eight newly renovated bedrooms in the lodge and a one mile trek to the more rustic cabin. Ice skating, and night skiing are also featured at Sleepy Hollow as well as trails to Butternut Cabin with stunning views of Camel's Hump. There is an offer for a one-time free trail pass to people, who drive to the center in a hybrid or alternative powered vehicle. CCSAA member

The Catamount Family Center is in Williston, VT at a family farm with memorable views of Mt. Mansfield and Camel's Hump to the east and Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks to the west.There are 35 km of trails of which 20 km are groomed for classic and skate skiing. Lessons, xc ski rental equipment are available.
